Rock Beach Below The Ice

Ice sheets on the Elk River

The water in much of the Elk River is very shallow and slower moving, but then drops off sharply towards the deep channel. It creates an interesting effect when the temperature is low for this long. The hundred feet or so near the shore freezes, while the faster moving water in the channel doesn’t,
